Installing 1mm over sized intake valves for racing is a operation that should not be done by hand. Nor should any valve job be done by hand such as with neway cutters. Free hand work does not work. This has been proven many times, such as other shops that use worn out tooling that refuse to upgrade or replace worn tooling, then extrem lapping is needed to make the not so seal a sort of seal on the valves. Lapping the valves is not the answer.

The job that you might expect from others who advertise themselves as so called specialist or experts – that job – that job you just paid good money for might already be worn out or not satisfactory done before it goes back in service, and the result is a loss of power later due to pumping losses due to inadequate machining practices. Insist on the best job when it come to any of your engine re-building not  just  because what is mentioned here it is because you get what you pay for !

This machines accuracy is held to  .02 of a degree. You can not do that by hand. Here are some pictures of other cylinder heads that we can do for you.NOTE: If you lap a valve a fine grit of 1000 or finer is used only to show the “seating area” not to correct for inaccurate work to try to make the valve seal.
